Normandy Beaches
So the latest adventure is to France to visit the Normandy Beaches. I have heard a lot of good things about the history of the area, the time and care taken to preserve the original WW2 landing sites, respect the fallen, those who gave their lives for our freedoms. It's been 82 years since those thousands of courageous souls stormed the beaches and an important part of our history.
My brother; Jon is ex RAF π¨βοΈ and was stationed at various UK sites including; Coltishall, Mount Batten and Halton during his service. He is no longer in active service, (like all of us, age unfortunately catches up with us) π π¨π»π¦³π΅π«. However, I would like to thank him and the many other people he served with, for the service they gave.
I'm lucky enough to be doing this trip with some lovely people; Tracy, Rodney & Kaz and lucky enough to call them friends π₯°. Kaz is an army veteran (for 30 years no less) and saw active service.
The place we are camping for the first few days is Le Chateau Martragny. Which looks amazing π₯°
So amongst the many sites and beaches we will visit, we will have to taste the local wines π·, sample the local food πππ and generally enjoy ourselves. The weather is set to be hot (another heatwave perhaps.....π)The sunflowers should be blooming π»and we will hopefully find out how the Tour de France is getting along.
I'll up date my blog a couple of times during the week if you want to come back and have a read π. thank you & cheers
