61.5 miles & 2,969 feet of Ascent

Today we did less climbing, the scenery continues to be stunning, as we are travelling down the middle of Scotland, its very different to the coast. We have avoided going across to John O'Groats as accommodation was hard to find, and the place is full of people who have cycled from Land's end to John O'Groats, in my opinion they deserve all the food and accommodation they can get. This route in my opinion is also much more scenic and with much less traffic than coming down the East Coast (apart from the odd wide heavy load...).

The food continues to be superb, the Scottish people seem to think we need feeding up, which to be honest is not a problem, but I  will need to cut back when I get home.  Apparently Scottish Cattle are fed on the by product of waste from whisky production, probably why they are so tasty and extremely friendly, docile sort of creatures.  They look very cuddly but I'm not sure I'd ever argue with one.

Scotland is very windy country, the vastness is incredible and to increase sustainability more wind farms are being built. We had to stop for sometime, as this lorry with part of the windmill inched its way up the narrow road. No singing today, big kudos to the lorry driver, navigating these roads with something that big and heavy cannot be easy.

Very randomly we did come across a farm of I think either Llama or Alpaca, of all the things you might expect, this was not on the list of expectations.  My advice is don't get to close, they have tendency to spit! 😡‍πŸ’«
