Big Achievements
It's lovely to see people on their cycling journey. The Ladies Cycle Group is no exception and two members of the group have recently had some great achievements, going from strength to strength.
Lutterworth Ladies Cycling Group
Lutterworth Ladies Cycle Group, started in 2023. As a member of British Cycling. I completed their specified cycling course and became a Breeze Ride Champion and started the Ladies Only group, you have to book a place on the ride using the British Cycling website
We now have an WhatsApp group and have approx. 14/15 members, all of whom live either locally or in one of the nearby villages. During the winter months, the rides start off as shorter ones and are at weekends, getting progressively longer during the warmer months, it’s also possible with the extra daylight hours to put on evening rides. The majority of ladies are working and parents so juggle their work and family commitments amongst many other things, however, they all enjoy riding their bikes, so we all have that 1 thing in common which is a great starting point.
Hopefully in 2024 we will be able to have a lot of rides, eat many cakes or scones and generally enjoy company with like minded people. When cycling with a group I always found that there was nothing worse than seeing everyone disappearing into the distance, so we have a strict no drop policy. 😊🚴♀️ Watch this space …………………
Bike Maintenance
As with a lot of things in life, you don't really think about something until it starts giving you problems or stops working. So today instead of doing a ride to a Café, a good friend of mine did a bike maintenance workshop with some of the ladies in the group. Showing someone how to change an inner tube, how to deal with a puncture on tubeless tyres, ensuring the main components of your bike stay in good working order, the best way to take off the front and rear wheels without damaging either the bike or the wheel.
